This area of the country was not in our plans. We had our sight on La Tatacoa - a beautiful desert about 5 hours from Bogota. It went like this. It took us three hours to cover a little under 3km. At this point I made a wrong turn. Bursted into tears. Ranted about how I just wanted to show someone how beautiful Colombia was and I couldn't even do that because our infrastructure was shit. Explained the complicated relationship I have with my country. Learned that festivities down the road shared the blame for the traffic jam. Reconsidered (slightly) my anger towards the local government. Stopped for lunch. Crafted a new plan: Guatavita.

If I was to redo it I would take la Autopista Norte, via Sopo. I might even stop at the Alpina Market to eat an oblea and pick up some fresh cheese to take to Jardin Colibrí. Mao and Nikki would appreciate that. (I would also eat an oblea on the spot). I would then make my way to Suesca and go climbing. Continue to Guatavita to see the town and go up to the sacred lagoon. Finish in Guasca. Set base at El Mønte Teepee and wander over to Chingaza first and then as many natural reservations as I can find.
